Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup half-and-half divided for layers
  • 1/2 tsp activated charcoal powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • A pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Optional: honey or maple syrup to sweeten

Spice Mix Topping:

  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • A pinch of fine sea salt

Instructions

  • Mix the activated charcoal powder with a small amount of warm water to create a paste, then dilute with additional warm water to make 1/2 cup of charcoal liquid.
  • Gently heat 1/4 cup of half-and-half in a saucepan. Whisk in the turmeric and black pepper until well combined and frothy. Set aside.
  • Froth another 1/4 cup of half-and-half until it achieves a creamy consistency for the white froth. Set aside.
  • Sweeten each half-and-half mixture to taste with honey or maple syrup if desired.
  • Pour the charcoal liquid into a clear glass, forming the base layer.
  • Carefully layer the golden turmeric froth over the charcoal liquid.
  • Gently add the white froth on top.
  • Combine the smoked paprika, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and fine sea salt to make the spice mix. Sprinkle generously on top of the white froth.
  • Serve the latte immediately, offering a stirrer for guests to blend the layers as they like.
