- 2 cups aged basmati rice
- 2 teaspoons juniper berries
- 1 tablespoon ghee
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon black mustard seeds
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
- 1/2 cup jowar
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups water
Instructions
- To begin, soak 2 cups of aged basmati rice with 2 teaspoons of juniper berries for 30 minutes
- In a large saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of ghee over medium heat
- Add 1/2 cup of finely chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add 1/2 cup of jowar, 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric, and 1 teaspoon of salt to the saucepan
- Add the soaked basmati rice and 4 cups of water
- Turn off the heat and let the rice sit covered for 10 minutes
