- 1 quart of filtered water
- 1 tablespoon of ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon of ground ginger
- 1/4 cup of honey
- 1/4 cup of freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cardamom
- 2 tablespoons of freshly chopped mint
- Fresh mint sprigs for garnish
Instructions
- Begin by combining the base ingredients for the turmeric tonic
- Once the mixture reaches a gentle simmer, reduce the heat and allow it to simmer for 15 minutes uncovered
- After 15 minutes, remove the pot from the heat and strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer
- Next, prepare the Tuscaloosa twist
- Simmer the mixture for 10 minutes, stirring regularly.
- Once 10 minutes have passed, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in 2 tablespoons of freshly chopped mint.
- To assemble the Turmeric Tonic with Tuscaloosa Twist, combine the tonic and the twist in a large pitcher
- Serve the tonic chilled and garnished with a sprig of fresh mint.
